Hospice/Comfort Care

Hospice or Palliative Care, is a supportive service focused on pain and symptom management for individuals with a life-limiting illness. Gold Crest works closely with hospice staff to treat the whole person and not just the "disease." Hospice is appropriate when our goal is for dignity, comfort and support, at a time when aggressive medicine is no longer desired. Reimbursement is usually available through Medicare, Medicaid and most other insurance carriers. Hospice does not pay for the daily room rate, but they do provide durable medical equipment and medications related to resident comfort. They also provide emotional support and grief counseling to residents' families and staff.

Gold Crest Retirement Center desires to assure the residents their rights of self-determination. Gold Crest provides educational material and arranges communication between the hospice provider and family members. If you would like more information, please contact Michelle Denker, RN, DON at mdenker@goldcrest.net.
